It's late...ermm early in the morning here in France.

Stephen ( Lunar aka Sparks ) had a brilliant idea but been very busy to realize it so he sent me his pspontv. With that system i can record ingame Wipe Pure racin' ( to make it shorter).

Tomorrow i need to fix the Audio issue, see if i can find better ratio size / quality for the videos.

But here's the 2 first tour ( Alpha & Gamma ) with my mate Rob aka Wooyay done on Xlink Kai. Unfortunately there's no sound , but the videos should be DL i can promise you , you won't regret ;)

If anyone wants to see how to get the most out of the game, watching Assayeah play it is the ultimate way. Every trick and perfect line in the book of Pure can be seen. I am learning much.......:pirate

My main, and less impressive contribution to this is on Khara descent on the delta tour with me and ASA. My priority being not to die and take the tour, after getting quaked at the end of lap 1 you will see me give a demonstration of the noble art of chickening out. One plasma, or a rocket/bomb combo, and you are in big trouble. Shortly after he quaked me you see him slow down and check back for where I am, obviously considering further aggression, but he must have know me well enough to realise that I would be absorbing everything at this stage, and I don`t think I did a single BR again until lap 5, when I knew he couldn`t kill me. A hasty retreat is sometimes the way to guarantee victory ;)

ASA, I have watched all the videos (mostly me on Beta) while you recording so we can see your deviously slimely technique!, like loads of AP, mines and boosters!! I had used two AP at the whole game and still beat him but how many AP on Sol2 he has? ;) which I have none!

Gamma, on the last race, did you see his combination at the start of his race?, as AP then mines and booster!!! which left me so much behind of this crazy french man!!! and no way to catch him! :(

Oh forgot about Khara Descent, That is the first time I have played since my last kai due golf reasons and I didn`t expect it to win it! LOL!

7 new Giga last night recorded for 8 or 9 tours done : i need to work on those during the week end. The longest & boring things are the time spent by my P4 compressing the videos into avi files & also updating them into host sites, but when i saw the finishing result this is what i call a Pure entertainment. :guitar

Last night i ve decided to change from view ( external far) and playing 3 different ships ( assegai, goteki and other one ) that was funny ( but ermm how can people race fast with that view always looking at their ship :o )

actually, the rapidshare site works very well for me. it took me about 5 minutes to download Asa's video mix of over 70 megs.

It took me about 5 to 10 mins, but yea google video would be the best answer - you dont have to dl the actual file to view it. Just find it on google video, it buffers it, then plays in the same window.

It's hard to find the best site to upload for everyone : rapidshare is the best one for us : continental players.
Megaupload could be better in term of size allowed ( 250Mb ) ( Downloading at around 100 kb/s , same for rapidshare with non-premium members )
But stevie you don't tell me if your waiting was due to a queue list or due to the slow dl, be more precise :)
Dmc : i am uploading a file into file front , and give the link when finish, i need people feedback too about how much time before DL starts and the speed of the DL .

If there's no real good solution wich can satisfy all of you, i ll probably upload to rapidshare and ask to fellow continentals to help me by uploading on other site the videos.

Not to beat a dead horse (cliché), but if you are concerned about allowed file size google video allows upto 1 Gigabyte.

I ve worked on editing the 6 tours from last thursday , the 2 others : ascension & gamma were still uploaded ( see above
post N° 17 & 22 ), finishing also the 4 tours from saturday night, and half way of the 4 T + 2 sr races from yesterday introducing a new South America phantom player : just watch the vids to have an idea of what he can do on few tracks.
During all this long week end of 3 days , filefront has closed du to maintenance traffic : i didn't know if it was permanent or not ( i register myself and directly upload a file of 151 Mo and right after it no way to upload a new file , i emailed the site without an answer ) i thought they allowed me just one file per week maybe or something like that so i decided to upload all my recents files into rapidshare in case of filefront permanent issue. I ll give the links corresponding to rapidshare for those like El who can DL 70 Mo in less than 5 min but after the tour from last saturday , only Filefront (http://hosted.filefront.com/asayyeah) will be concerned.

héhé Arnaud, I just watched the gamma video, and I have to say DAMN you are lucky with pickups! last lap of SP, you are more than 4 seconds behind, and you get an AP and a quake! how unfair is that!? ;) I was racing the whole race without firing a single weapon! in the first few laps I held a quake for backup, and then in lap 4 when I got 4 secs ahead I finally absorbed it. So it was no turbos no AP no nothing for me all the way! AARGH! >.< and you are getting turboe like they're on sale or something!!! :D

good choice mate, absolutely. I'd use it too, sometimes, as a diversion to assegai (and pretty similar stats), but then it just doesn't LOOK fast ;) can you say 'baby got back'? :D

Great news, Max. :clap I think its very similar to Assegai, maybe a bit more rolly in the bends and a bit more flighty on bumps, but just as good thrust and possibly slightly better top speed, and crucially a bit more shield. It also feels like magic to fly and isnt a Triakis.:robot

Asa, love the new delta tour video with dmc. That Iridia chase is just awesome, and the point where we both stop on lap 5 of Koltiwa, you to try to kill me off and me trying avoid that outcome, is just great to watch again. Of course had I known you were energy critical too I might not have been so shy about the last lap. ;)

@ El : a warmachine , lol, i am just a white dove flying around :rolleyes: , finding the best way to quickly cross the finish line

@ Maxx : 2 type of Goteki are racing into Kai : the normal one ( used by matey Stephen) and the Stealth model you use :redface:

@Lunar : The chase is what i like most , avoiding mines or bombs beeing close but not much in order to pick up weapons , and find the best line or area to get a turbo or a missile .

@Dmc : that's what i call stage 1 : how the guy can handle weapons and how is he doing with them . And i must say you are pretty good in a fight. Now you need to race alone on TT or free play phantom ( 30 min per track is enough...lol 28 tracks x 30 min = 14 hours ( not counting the loading time) per day , i let you a month and you will kick for sure our arse :)

Asa, I`ve noticed that the "green classic" tour you uploaded to filefront doesn`t dl very well. I`ve tried 4 times now but it always slows to a crawl so I have to cancel it. The others are fine and download quickly, including the large ascension files. I wonder if you uploaded it in a different way, or what`s going on with that. It was hardly a "classic" classic though, anyway. ;)

another small point, for anyone watching these videos, is that I think they look slightly better viewed in Real Player, if you have it, than in windows media player. Its not a huge difference, but at default settings Real Player looks a bit sharper to me, and the colours deeper. And then your wmp is free to play whatever music floats your AG boat. :)

I tried downloading "anthoborutsparks ascension the races.avi" several times without success, though "anthoborutdeltagotekiview.avi" downloaded without any problem.
I guess it's a filefront problem that kinda sucks, as these videos are awesome :(

I can re-upload the classique1 , but i have done nothing special to upload that pack . ( i ve tried to dl it and yes it's slow around 15Kb/s )
The file managment doesn't work , i cannot modify or delete existing files.
When the things will go better in the site, i ll create files directories and re upload the wrong ones , and delete those who haven't been uploaded.

Session 5 : Sparks Supremacy

This cool session leads us to a point that nothing is clearly written into the kai's world. or just what i was saying few weeks ago is becoming a reality.
My theory is that past a kind of level ( knowing perfectly the tracks and your own ship's reactions with a good background into kai's fight) the average between racers is really thin , winning a race or a tour depends now on how you start perfectly lap1 ( as sparks said a long time ago) how is your mood when you race and finally how can you drop the pressure or not.

I thought after the DNF of SPK on Iridia ( 2 quakes in a row from DAG + my added plasma) that the tour would be ' in my pocket ' , i haven't be counting on SPK Furious catch up which leads him to tie the tour with me. Result : 1 win for Ben on iridia + 3 wins for Stephen : Congrats guys :)

I agree Asa that plasma was a brilliant one: almost the equal of the one El got me with on Sagarmatha. :p Why am I the one who`s always used for target practice? ;) Is it because my ship has a big back end? In both cases I thought you had no chance of hitting me, and my thought process reminds me of the famous last words of General John Sedgwick at the Battle of Spotsylvania, 1864: "They couldn`t hit an elephant at this dist......"

Your plasma shot on Exostra on Friday night was just as good, perhaps even better given the short time you had to think about it. Friday`s session was the best yet and I recommend people to download all the 05/12 tours from the filefront page. Mostly 2 Gotekis v 2 Triakis, on the few occasions when the racing isn`t intense you get a tutorial from Arnaud. ;) Even the Gamma without Max in the other Goteki is awesome racing, and it`s a shame the camera couldn`t catch my finish line fireball on Exostra: DNF (thx to Stevie) but still 5 points as I exploded over the line. Must say it`s also great to have another Goteki out there. :rock

Should add that I`ve found it`s best not to download files simaltaneously from filefront, though it can work, and if you get a crawler file download it will usually work next time if you cancel and try a different server. :)

Sparks El & me fightin' together on various tours...sounds good, doesn't it?
Unfortunately few annoying things for half the tours : maybe due to too much lag when we raced or my busy computer running different tasks? i really don't know but the result is the classique 1 tour + those i ve done with El and 3 other newbee , the sound is not syncronised with the video so i only kept the CL1 which was an exciting tour and not those with the new players.

Great tour with the closest finishing result for a tour : SPK = 26 pts El & me = 25 pts !! This was the last laggy tour so don't worry if you find the quality viewing not really beautiful, just have a close eyes on the fights ;)

Delta
For me in term of action it's one of my favorite . I can see El & Sparks maybe 90% of the time , leaders changing each laps that was fantastic.

Aborted Beta
Yeah only 2 tracks here : We lost connection to 'El the hoster' just after starting sebemco climb. But you can see what means a speedy race on sinuccit for me and also an intense fight at 3 on Citta ( Maxx you can be proud of us ;) )

Gamma
This tour was great like the others we have done. the action du jour : sparks and me side by side barrel rolling along the 3 jumps at Kahara descent : so hallucinating :donut - :donut

No intense fights here but don't miss our setting off in pursuit of eachothers with great result in term of race time.

Tied this one with Spk, even though my back-quake hit the wrong target on Koltiwa...sorry Dmc :frown: . You can watch multiple barrel rolls on Khara Descent : this is a cool track for experimenting fast speed

Gamma : ( SPK + DMC )
Tied with Spk :) . Few mistakes here & here for all of us but this was a great tour. Nice quake from Stephen on übermall, double quake ( mine immediately followed by Dmc's one been closed to blast the Goteki master ;) . We all know now the extreme power to survive from SPK into the deepest hard situations :o

I have to admit that quake on Ubermall really was a beauty ;) As was dropping in from over your head on Porta Kora.:bat Almost as good as the bomb/plasma sandwich you and El got me in during Iridia on session 7. :o

Bad news : i have got now a feedback sound which is very strident when i record a kai sesh by using pspontv, we gonna see that with mate stephen if that can be fixed cause this is unplayable and ruins the pleasure of playing Kai.
Anyway i am sure we will find a solution.

My original file sized at 2.5Go : 0.5 more than can afford virtual dub mod so i found a new way to make it happend but that wasn't easy, the key frame didn't work and few other functions. That's why i've only uploaded the best part of that long tour : 16 min for 111Mb.

yes it was great. I was expecting a stressful Goteki v Triakis Round 73, but it was "quite" relaxing. :D The best race I remember was a real nail-biter on Sebenco Climb. Asa`s AGS against Asa`s Haribo, a great chase, lots of lead changes, and the peace-loving Haribo killed by an evil plasma right at the finish. :)

I can't contradict you on seb climb ;) , this is truly one of our best race on a track we ever did ( i shall insist a bit on a previous one we did too on porto Kora in which the leads changed so often and you finally blew up my ship on the finishing lap : :( it hasn't recorded but always in my mind ! )

In other hand we don't have seen our last flash elimination mode yet, sure this one is a funny one . I am gonna work on editing it and then upload as usual :)

I reinstalled Xlink Kai, I will configure that with fear (data processing always seeks to annoy us lol) and I would come just for the fun, I suspect that I would never finish races LOL and that the message "destroyed" or "that you make Jean phi oh ohh" will often appear, but it does not matter.

It`s a media file, if you type .avi on the end as a file extension then WMP or RealPlayer should pick it up ok. :)

The others have the extension, although I had some probs with the I-Link vs Anthony file, it just says download complete after a second and there`s nothing there.

Well this isn`t an "adult site", and it seems that session`s brutal finishing moves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finishing_move) must have been too graphic for children who might be on Wipeout Zone, and the French government, or possibly one of the moderators, has censored them. There is a Scottish pilot (the only one not to get killed) who I know would like these controversial videos to be seen. ;)

Session 12 : Unbelievable descension & delta experience

It's always like this : i think to spend a cool & quiet evening while racing TT Pure but my schedule has been changed when reading the Kai rendez-vous topic : come back from Max , possibly spk playing , and ads & dag already in kai playing ... hmmm sounds interesting doesn't it ?

I joined Ads & Dag for few races waiting for MAx who was trying to install kai again, after few moments of uncertainty he eventually be here at the same moment than Spk so we started a descension at 5. I quickly set up pspontv but i have had a big audio bug while recording the session ( the sound of the game kept variating along the tracks , that's a bit annoying but the video part is perfect )
It's a bit laggy : Max & Dag have a crappy kai connection which cannot be solved sadly. Anyway that was truly playable.

That descension was awesome : here's the result

Helluva fights, amazing battles, crazy actions everything was there to spend a sweet moment.

You know what a loop or salto means right? when you do this with a ship the result is always the same : Respawning it after few sec being on the back....but lol not this time for me : that forward loop done on Chenghou's 3rd lap resulting from a bad turbo on the 2 jumps led me doing a whole 360° into the air and landing properly on the right side and go on racing without slowing down too much and without a respawn : so great moment !
But that 's not all .. i also did( always unwanted) a forward salto with rear view engaged :o unbelievable right? but i can assure you it was thrilling ! Actually leading on the final lap of Koltiwa with ADS right at my back , i did a rear view to finish that track but i went too much on the right side and just before crossing the line i hit like a low wall : with the rear view always activated i saw me take off literally without knowing what happend !! A must watch it for sure!!

I wish I had had a better connection. In many races it was very difficult to keep the ship off the walls and on the track with all my controls lagging and at about 15-20 fps. One other thing: Spk had 67 points. ;)

I have triangle mapped as thrust, circle mapped as fire, square for look behind, and x as absorb, so that I can easily look behind me without taking my finger off the thrust button.

I've always prefered triangle as my accelerate button - it even points the way you want to go! ;)

I need to develop a way of carrying out any action without releasing thrust. I`m a triangle thrust man, like Rob, and think this gives the PSP great balance in your hands so don`t want to change, but I have rear view on x so that I can absorb and fire without releasing. It`s possible to roll your thumb onto x, also without releasing triangle, but sometimes you accidentally hit absorb or fire. I really have to develop a good rear view system, with plasma sharpshooters like ADS and ASA around, and also for more offensive moves when being followed. :bomb :pirate

It true that you have to pick your moment when to absorb, but I tend to save it for a really tight corner when I'll get a smoother line by briefly releasing thrust anyway.

It'd be interesting to see a replay / in game footage of Arnaud's finger gymnastics during a game. :D

Amazingly watchable quality on YouTube. I would swear YouTube has improved their video encoding lately. I put some videos up there a while ago and had to take them down because I couldn`t stand to see them reduced to just a load of fuzzy squares. Now it doesn`t seem to look half so bad as it used to, especially if you shrink the display. It would be a good feature for some videos if there was a way to default the view to a smaller size.

I wanna record some more races but I really have to get used to the PSP to TV with component cable setup. It really gets me off my timing.

Mad-ice, you may want to try running your PSP out to a different TV or perhaps a computer monitor. Using my little 17" LG LCD TV, I really don't think I experience latency-- or at least, very little compared to playing on the PSP itself. I can pilot pretty much as well using video out as not, though either way I am not nearly as good as you at this game :P

Internal view on Pure rules:banzai! Feels faster, and to me makes it easier - the ship doesn't seem to slide around so much. I play external view on Pulse though (and Fusion when I played that). That's a different kind of game (and my favourite WO:D).

Just a small tip for you guys: When racing Iridia and doing a barrel roll down the big drop in the middel of the track try not to land on the second boost pad cause this will take away the boost you get from the BR. Instead try to land to the right or left of the pad without using it. You can see the difference in both of your Iridia videos. When you go over the pad your speed goes up to only less than 900 whereas when you miss it your speed goes up to more than 1000 from the BR boost.

today I'm practicing without the "Elixir" :beer because I don't have the AC adaptor for my cam... Spitfire will bring it tomorrow (maybe). One thing I discovered... I can go with the Pure flow way better with :beer ... lol the other days I almost predicted how the tracks are... today... the walls are all mine xD I don't know how you all can play 3 or more WipEouts without mixing the handling of each game ahaha. Expect more Drunken news soon lol

Well not actually a pilot yet! But he is practising a lot with the controller. He really likes to hold it and I think he will play with the analog stick. The funny thing is he is holding the big controller without any problem. When he does his first race I will post it immediately. BTW Ice-cube #2 is coming in about two weeks, exciting times here.

Well mate, keep them vids coming, we sure do like them. In time you will know each game by heart and you will have no problem with the different physics.

Also, you just lose track of time after a while in Free Play mode. I think the most I ever did in one session was 336 for my Iridia time (a few days ago). Flashback's done over 600 before, and I suspect that leungbok's done even more while looking for more places to BR. :lol

Well not a vid from me but, a turbo strategy tip! Use your turbo at 14 secs in your vid and take your speed into the tight left turn.

Nice vid from you Leungbok, I totally forgot Vohl square on Fusion. It looks like a nice track. I think the last time I played Fusion was a the first EWC in 2007 with a beamer projected on a massive wall at 03:00 night time, awesome!!

And yes Leungbok, that's what I like too, to share new tricks and knowledge about racing our most favourite game.

New tip: In your vid of Vohl Square SL, use your turbo at second 5. Right after the boost of your first BR is worked out. This will give you an enormous boost and more speed will be carried through then the other turbo location. My lap is now down to 23.55 secs. I only had 6 BRs, so there is still much to gain maybe sub 23?

About vohl square, try to perform the last BR (not that hard if you hit the last pad & nose up), the bonus speed coupled with your boost before the line will give you an uber speed start ! ;)

Great laps mate, I don't know how you manage to get all those BRs to work. I have trouble getting them to register with the easiest BRs.

In comparison with pulse & HD, with pure there's a delay for a BR to work. You don't necessarily need a big height but you absolutely must BR at the begining of the jump, even anticipate it sometimes. If you BR too late, you'll eventually do the rotation but you'll not have the bonus boost ! ;)

Yeah, sounds about right, I couldn't even get the first one on Vineta to work normally, gave up with BRs on PURE after a few days.

That looks cool Leungbok! And that record from Staz has already been seen by Timecop Tomahawk. It will be investegated further, because we think it is not possible.

Look at the times from Arnaud and me, so close. You have beat us by a big margin for sure but it is with Jaytech and therefore you are not entering records here. Even if you succeeded with that extra BR, a laptime like that seems impossible to me. So yes I would like to see a vid too.

A comment from Staz would be appreciated.

I noticed that record too. I assume he's accidentally entered 25 instead of 26, which would have been close to his times on other tracks (which are impressive, but not suspicious looking). But then I'm useless on Chenghou, like most Pure tracks, so I wouldn't know what's possible on it. :D

-triple BR is possible on the left hander (i did it on my old video of the firsts leagues but it can be done with less bouncing)
