PS2 problems

im sure some body else may have this problem, ive had a look and could find anything on it so..

my PS2 wont play PS1 games unless its upside down and it might take a couple of restarts before it works, it only causes a big problem when i try to change discs, i wanted to play mgs1 special missions but it wouldnt read the disc for metal gear 1.

any ideas for fixing it?

Looks like you have a laser alignment problem - it's fixable, and if your PS2 is out of warranty you can fit a replacement drive yourself.

I've found on a friend's PS2 that it would lock up when loading a race of 2097 unless it was switched off and back on again before playing the game. it was only a problem if we swapped the disc and hit reset
