You are not the only one, we often do that against real human players on Xlink Kai , and not even in vector ;)

That's nothing. Quakes get fired backwards all the time on Kai.

That can actually be a fairly effective technique though. Slow up a bit to let someone on your tail pass, then blast them with something, making them fall further behind than they were before. And if you're good and/or lucky, you can save up some Plasmas and take them out of a race.

I do that if an AI craft hits me with a weapon but it doesn't quite slow me down enough for it to pass, normally a missile strike near a speed pad, nice set of rockets up hippy Harimau's arse

Yes if you have plenty of time while in the lead but does not work that way because Arnaud did thought I was so far behind and he tried to BQ me and failed miserably cos I did won it in the end!
