I had a good moment spent with exarkann, Dav & psycho yesterday, i played US ( at least one year i didn't) version, but got a ***** bug not connecting , and needed to create a dedicated US profile for my DWL.
Anyway after 1 hour spending on it , i succeeded and had few tracks with everyone.

Oddest bug ever.
On Mandrashee.

First the game was stuck in 2097 view at start line (craft in bottom left of screen)
Then the camera didnt move with my ship so it was like cinematic view
Then i switched to nose cam, which was alright but i was 30 secs behind already
Then i started to get invisibly rammed from the side
Until... finale!
Got stuck in a teleport loop, just BZZT BZZT BZZT BZZT BZZT BZZT but no loss of energy. Speed kept on jumping up and down. Psp eventually crashed with the speed 19288 on screen.

Just curious, but what's the lag like on Kai? Bearable? Notice any weird happenings occasionally due to network spikes and such? Any instances where you were clearly fifteen feet in front of your opponent but still placed second?

I f you courageous reading through the massive number of pages of this topic , you could 'pick up' any glitches, bugs, freakin annoyed moments spent fixing kai or DWL multi issues.

When everything is ok we can have a perfect no lag action at 4 pilots, 5 possible but they need to be close from your state and have a good upload bandwich.
In the past we did experimented at 6 and working well but it was before all the mess with different firmwares the pilots were using( official or not).

The future will be throuh infrastructure mode , thx to Pulse for that and pray for playing decently at more than 5

Stevie have you set up kai config tool with port at 30000 and 0 ?

Vic has a routeur and he is using a different way for connecting than us :
First of all he is plugging DWL then he shuts down the computer and reboot it while his psp is already in 'searching multiplayer mode' = after selecting ships, ok? Then he disables windows firewall, he opens Kai without refreshing dwl menu ( he is not using the DWL menu and let windows configurates the wifi connection)

Hope that may help you a bit in your quest of truth

Interesting, I also have a router but then I don't use Windows firewall I have McAfee and its set to allow Kai full access, my routers inbuilt firewall doesn't seem to stop Kai traffic and I use the Zydas software for my wifi max not the Windows wizard doo-hickie, I believe thats thats the technical term.

This is very annoying we need ya on Kai Stin, cos its getting harder to kill everyone else ;)

Ahhh...so Max was chatting with me and informed me that my wireless router's connection is not working with Kai and my PSP.

Will turning off the firewall do enough, or will there be *gulp* extensive work needed?

There are just a very few routers that work Kai, so maybe you even have to buy new hardware.

We started this afternoon Mad Ice & I when we met on kai a new player with great skill named : Raiden we did the whole 28 tracks at 3.
We quit house for my brother's one to have a coucous/alcohol party :beer

Yeah I'd love to...my life is a bit crazy and I'm still a newbie to Pure...trying to expand my pure "repertoire" on Rapier before I go back on to Kai. So I can manage to keep up on another track besides Sol 2:p (I have just added the gamma pack to said repertoire, only alpha beta gamma right now, lol! I'd better work on beating the AI in my AGS before I go back up against that Scotsman RRA!! I'm too slow for him. And Raiden.)

By the way RJ, I can verify that the Airlink 101 AWLL3026 USB adapter works perfectly with kai (you'll be unable to use it with pulse though). Borell introduced me to kai with some thorough whippings and then Rapier Racer "baptized me with fire"...elimination....

I'd better work on beating the AI in my AGS before I go back up against that Scotchman!! I'm too slow for him. And Raiden.

I might manage to get onto Kai Friday night, if the six hours of driving I have to do beforehand does not kill me.

AG Sys?!? Into online multiplayer?!?
Izzy, try out the Goteki. It handles almost as well as the AG Sys, with twice the shields. That should help with your "getting eliminated" problem.

Jack was using an AG Sys when we did our get-together, but he was rarely in anyones sights long enough to be attacked. 8 P

I was flying Tigron or Goteki and still getting eliminated every now and then, but I think my weapon usage (absorbtion rate) has improved significantly since then.

I'm not taking any ship with Shields of 3 or less into multiplayer until I'm a lot better, that's for sure. 8 )

Yeah, I started out using the Assegai, but I was hooked by the acceleration and handling of the AG. One has to play very defensively with it considering its meagre shielding, but it absolutely tears out of curves.

In other news, I just picked up a DWL-122 off Ebay this afternoon. Hopefully I'll be onto Kai soon. We'll see.

So I ventured onto Kai for a bit tonight with those scary fast racers...yikes. But an important night for I won my first race and eliminated my first pilot on Kai. REASONS BELOW:

-Only 2 pilots remained in the race, the others dropped out which left Mad-Ice and I.
-I seemed to go through every bomb and mine due to lag which left them for 007, I'm sure.
-After he lapped me (was it the first or second time??) I quaked him to bits. After which I rebounded from wall to wall until finally crossing the line, the only pilot left, earning my first gold.XD
So now I know, to get gold I must eliminate everyone.

Poor Vic and Poi gave me a tutorial on Altima at Phantom speed. Now I know precisely where to barrel roll and what lines to take, as I watched carefully each time they lapped me :)

Back I go to practice. I'd better give it a good week of attempting all tracks at least on Rapier...

(Oh and I should say Task, I was using the AGS because it was the only slow speed high handling ship I could handle before on Rapier/Phantom. Now I am trying out Puma 1...I don't like Goteki, but I like cats...I may try Tigron/Triakis much later...)

Slow speed, high handling? Did you try Van Uber? The shield strength will make all the difference, should help you out.

I was definitely eliminated far easier in the Goteki than in the Tigron, I'll only fly those low-shield ships in TT mode myself.

I'm planning on spending a lot of time in Rapier this weekend as well.

Q_DMC made my first taste of multiplayer WipEout a harsh one - he thrashed me to bits. looks like i need some practise.

But, in my defense, my hand is pretty mangled - i needed to replace all my bandages after an ascension because they were starting to look a bit scruffy!

Im on at the moment, alterego warmed me up with a few nice races - he very near destroyed me with a backquake on our last race @ Iridia and i ended up limping my ship home absorbing every weapon i could get my hands on!

Our times at Anulpha Pass were within .01 of eachother. Perhaps i have found my perfect rival for on Kai?

Anyway, im on if anyone is game for a race or 5. :D

Just had a good set of races and an eliminator ascension with ben - he whipped me in the racing and i got my own back with the weapons!

to be honest, i think he was a little tired though, so it was a hollow victory. :D :p

We had an interesting coming together at chenghou - a dual elimination! both of us destroyed one another with plasmas - i was facing backward just after the jumps and we both fired as he came over the last jump. there was a big flash of purple and we both exploded!

Great races last saturday night and yesterday too with RR poi Dag and me , then RR left the board and we finished at 4 with Vic till 4 am this morning !

Pretty intense fights and nice laughs everytime , that's good to feel to be back in that fantastic world Kai is ( when it's working properly...)

Flashback Jack and i were talking last time i raced him, and we discussed the 'mechanics' of an online game beginning.

I had this WHOLE HUGE message typed up, like, 7 million characters, and then i realised that we all actually have lives, and that this game just wont always have people waiting there to play.

pfft, just wasted half my life on what eventuated to nothing

basically, it said if you want to play, and you just check the arena and see no one there, join it and wait for someone! dont just leave it.

P.S. if you click the speaker on the top right of your Kai so that it doesnt have a cross on it, you will get audio notification when someone joins the arena. that way, you cant miss someone joining! :)

Only to mention how Brad ( 11 years old son of Stevie ) was happy to race Stephan (513) and Raiden (HEE) .
Stevie gave him permission till a quarter to ten to run few flash and rapier tournaments. He is really starting to be a dangerous pilot especially on Omega tour :clap
Not forgetting to also mention that he whipped my arse on the 1 vs 1 we did this afternoon : he is mastering plasma to perfection. He proved that fact by blowing up twice my poor Klor ship :rock

Great fun today on Kai. I was a bit unprepared and had to set everything up from scratch, but turned out Mr.X, who invited had even more problems with the router, so Rapier Racer, Raiden and us two ended up passing more time in the lobby and trashtalking than actually racing. Still, when we did, it was a blast - literally. The 4-explosions race we had while Mr.X was away was mad fun, as well as the tragic team battle RRA & HEE (Assegai :mr-t) vs Mr.X & KKN (Auricom :turd), where I bumped into my teammate to deliver the finishing blow after they pummeled him on the last lap of the last track. Teamwork rocks! :rock
Too bad that when everything got running right it was too late already and we had to quit, but yeah, fun session nevertheless. 8)
Gotta join some more Pure mayhem before the game we all love makes space for the newborn. :sonar

In the night i race with Asa sensei, supersocks and DMC.

For the first time i win with my sensei....on Delta league in phantom with my Goteki....WOW!

Many cool moments in the races, but one on Anulpha is the best.....

I was third, in front of me on the shortcut i see Sox and Asa....i choose the low part of the track with a jump and br from the shortcut.....in this moment i see the Asa's tag fly down from the shortcut and i'm charged a missile from a weapon pad.
In a microsec i see sox down the shortcut and shoot him with the missile.
Sox make a big boom and i win!!!
........and sox gain the points because he explode passing the finish line....ahahah

That was a cool friday session we had yesterday with various wipers : 1st time for me with the slim psp : i am a bit chocked by the Dpad : i feel now very uncomfortable to nose down ( it seems 50% of time that makes a diagonale left or right with a crash wall as a result ) A part from that the rest is perfect : seems to me the slim one is running at 333 which makes the game a slight smoother : with FW 3.71 ( with wipeout Theme on it : thx Rob ;) )i had no problems on kai, no crashes , no gamma bugs.

Sorry Isa you missed us shortly , we did an awesome night on kai , we immediately started at 5 with Lion ( 19000 kms from France ! ) famous RR, the new 'Aki Kaurismäki' aka Soxy and FFF team mate Sleh : 3 great tours recorded with amazing fights and many explosion ( me the 1st :paperbag )
Those tours should be very interesting to be seen since we were 2 for recording, Sox and I :p

Amazingly CAT was visible even playing at 5 and long distance : that was a great comeback, i am sure you remember the 1st videos i recorded with Lunar's pspontv : those new ones have the taste of their old ones :nod

Then we played at 4 without Sox who needed to go to sleep early, followed by RR and Cat , Romano ALT knocked at the door and we finished dag and i to play the last 2 tours with him.

So you Asa probably want the SOXCAM(tm) material for your multiple angle cut? I'm away this weekend so I'm not able to extract the material until monday earliest. Feel free to post races before that if you want.

You said DivX and MPEG-1 are fine for you. Is it ok if I downscale it also for like 320x240? It's not the most sharpest video after all. Thought I have no idea how should I transfer the files. DVD by mail? :)

Sox : i think you got a special software coming with your Dv cam, use it to extract the files on your pc, hope you got the minimum requiring to do that , otherwise it will be more complicated.
My software i am using is called Cyberlink Power Director Express, since i got the files into my pc ( there are .mov extension) i can produce a file in the format i want : i am using mpeg 1 best quality : it's compressing immediately in 320X240 with something like 3000 kbs for video streaming but you can lower this compression a bit by selecting low quality which is still around 1500 kbs/2000 the weight ratio is around 8/10 Mo per min.
Maybe if you have the possibilitie to edit and cut the unecessary parts like the loading or waiting opponents that will be better to upload those files to me.
Anyway on monday before you do anything we shall talk through msn.

Then like Ben said , filefront is good if you have already edited your videos files otherwise if they are too big you can use : yousendit or rapidshare or megaupload ( personnaly i hate megaupload due to french download restriction on it )
