Hey everyone, glad to be here. This is my first post so be kind!

Anyways, I was wondering how I could play online with KLink KAI with you guys. I just finished a Wipeout Pure marathon by getting all the 204 gold medals available, but now I feel like playing some real, live opponents.

I was wondering if anyone could point me out as to what to buy? I've got all the instructions necessary to configure XLink KAI but I don't have the hardware.

Right now all I have is a linksys 8-port router (not wireless). I'm looking for the cheapest thing that works the best :D

Thanks for the help!

You should find all you need here. Go to www.teamxlink.co.uk as well for more info on the application itself.

A wireless router would be a good start. You can get them for about £20 nowdays. (Convert into what ever currency is most suitable for you of course). El Habib is the man to talk to, he recently posted a quick tutorial on setting up the PSP for play over Xlink. Just look for a post with the title of Xlink i think. :)

Wow! Hellfire didnt mess around, he beat me to it. :)

Thanks for the replies, I've already read the forum topic Hellfire posted, but I'm looking for something more specific, as in: what do you guys use and that works?

And is it possible only to buy an adapter? Not the whole router since I already have, just an adapter. (I'm looking for every possible option here :) )

Once again, thanks for any help.

If you're looking for an adaptor, a lot of people are using the DWL-122 for the PSP connection. Works like a dream, and it's cheap. Be careful which one you get though, the DWL-G122 isn't compatible.

Discontinued Model: DWL-122. Most recent availablet model: DWL-G122.

Crap. Still looking for any option here.

Amazon still sells them, I got mine only a week ago.

Also, have you checked ebay?

Oh, no. I was looking for local retailer though (I've had bad experiences with Ebay.)

YES. I've found one Linksys WMP54GS-CA for 70$. I think I might go with that one.

Edit: Wow. It actually costs a lot less to just buy a wireless router than to buy an adapter. Kinda funny.

And here's the router:

the two above links are NOT the DWL-122!

NOTE: do NOT buy the DWL-G122! IT WON'T WORK!
there you go.

Yeah I know :P But like I said I'd want to buy retail, not on the net, and the DWL-122 is discontinued. I knew the G122 is incompatible, and I wouldn't have bought it, but I was just proving the point that a router costs as much as an adaptor :)

Edit: Ebay seems like the most cheap solution right now though.

Some stores still carry some unsold DWL-122, took me several stores to find one but I did in the end :)

AFAIK, there's only one wireless router that you can use to connect to Kaid with a PSP and that's the LinkSys WRT54G, and you have to download special firmware for it; see http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2266&start=25. In all other cases, the PSP won't go straight through the router because the router won't know about Xlink stuff, you have to go through your PC to the net via an adaptor.

I've been wanting to play on xlink too, and I know how to get connected through my AirPort card, but I can't find anyone to play against. I've only ever seen 4 people in the Pure arena, and they always have bad ping, probably from being in Europe...

Anyone in Midwest or Eastern U.S. want to play?

I play off a Mac thru airport quite a lot - and often against people in the USA without any lag whatsoever. If everyone in the arena has bad ping the problem could be your end. I only once saw bad ping from everyone in the arena and that was because someone was busy on the network I use. The damn cheek of it - working while I want to play Kai.

If you come on at around 10-11 pm GMT you`ll usually always get a game. Hope to see you there. :)

The only time I've ever seen bad pings from everyone at once in the arena (360+ ms each!) turned out to be my own problem after all - I'd forgotten to turn off my Azureus, which was downloading stuff like crazy ;) Turning it off reduced all pings below 100 ms. There were no further lag induced gltiches that evening.

Just got my DWL-122's from broadbandbuyer, got em for about £10 each :D

ok, well maybe not terrible ping, but it shows as 2 or 3 bars, which is around 150ms...

It's also a major hassle that I have to connect it with a hard line to play. Plus the fact that most people I see on xlink are otherwise occupied...
